Volleyball is a team sport played with a ball on a rectangular court with a net. 

Types of volleyball

1. 🏐 Indoor Volleyball

  • Players: 6 per team

  • Format: Best-of-5 sets (to 25 points; 5th set to 15)

  • Players: 2 per team

  • Court: Sand court (16m x 8m), no special footwear

  • Ball: Slightly larger and lighter than indoor ball

  • Format: Best-of-3 sets (21, 21, and 15 points)

3. 🛏️ Sitting Volleyball

  • Players: 6 per team

  • Court: Smaller (10m x 6m), played sitting on the floor

  • Net Height: Lower (1.15m men / 1.05m women)

  • For: Athletes with physical impairments (Paralympic sport)

✅ Fast-paced and highly competitive; emphasizes upper-body skill and reflexes.


4. 🏞️ Snow Volleyball

  • Players: 3 per team (+1 substitute)

  • Court: Played on snow, similar to beach volleyball format

  • Ball: Similar to beach ball, designed for cold conditions

5. 👥 4v4 and 3v3 Volleyball

  • Players: 4 or 3 per team

  • Court: Modified sizes (depending on the format)

6. 🧒 Mini Volleyball / Kids' Volleyball

  • Players: Usually 3–6 per team

  • Court & Ball: Smaller court, lighter ball, lower net

7. 🤾‍♂️ Wallyball

  • Played: Inside a racquetball court

  • Rules: Similar to volleyball, but walls are in play

  • Ball: Smaller and bounces off walls

👥 1. Players

A standard volleyball team has:

  • 6 players on the court at a time

  • Substitutes on the bench (up to 6–8 in most competitions)
